In my spare time I enjoy dabbling in various aspects of web development. I’ve built a couple of sites professionally but mostly as a hobby. I spend most of my web dev time in WordPress although I have worked with Drupal in the past, when it comes to Content Management Systems.

I tend to stay away from traditional hosting platforms such as Godaddy or Host Gator and prefer to use a Virtual Private Server (VPS) like Digital Ocean. The advantage of lower cost and less restrictions far outweigh the cons of no hand-holding.

Here’s a list of some of the areas I have attained a reasonable degree of proficiency in.

  • HTML/CSS
  • LAMP Stack Setup (Linux/Apache/MySql/PHP)
  • VPS Setup (Virtual Private Server)
  • WordPress and Drupal CMS’s
  • Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Let’s Encrypt SSL Certificates
DarianAtwood.com

A website I built for my son and his music production business, using WordPress and the Kadence theme, which has become my ‘go to’ theme.

17below.com

This website was designed for my son’s Alt-Rock band.

GunsAndTasers.com

This website was originally built for a friend who owned a gun related business. The business no longer exists but the site has been converted to a news scraping site in hopes of growing the domain name’s value for re-sale.

JoeyMelotti.com

I built this site for my friend, Joey Melotti, who is the piano player for Barry Manilow and a whole list of music superstars.

PentagogicalBrass.com

This site was built for my friend Karen Polak and her brass quintet called “Pentigogical Brass”. Karen is a long time veteran of the Las Vegas music scene, having played trumpet in the “Siegfried and Roy” show way back when it had had a live band.
